HAU Board / Leadership

HAU Leadership
Hospice Africa Uganda is guided by a voluntary Board of Trustees made up of 11 members who bring a wealth of expertise, knowledge, and experience in health, palliative care, and governance.
The Senior Management Team oversees the daily operations across our various sites, including Makindye, Mbarara, and Hoima, including the Institute of Hospice and Palliative Care in Africa (IHPCA) and the Morphine Production Unit.
With a total of 87 staff members, our team is strategically distributed across these locations: 53 are based in Kampala, 16 at Little Hospice Hoima, and 18 at Mobile Hospice Mbarara. This team enables us to deliver comprehensive care and services to our patients and communities.
We are also supported by four registered charity boards in our donor countries: Hospice Africa UK, Hospice Africa Ireland, Hospice Africa France, and Hospice Africa USA. These boards focus primarily on fundraising and providing support to HAU’s work in Uganda.
The Anne Merriman Foundation brings together the Chairpersons of the HAU Board and the four country boards, along with nominated, long-standing supporters. The Foundation safeguards the vision and ethos of Hospice Africa Uganda, ensuring that our unique model for affordable and accessible palliative care in Africa is protected and sustained for the future
