About Little Hospice Hoima
Little Hospice Hoima (LHH), established in June 1998, serves as a model hospice for rural settings in Midwestern Uganda. LHH provides essential palliative care services to patients and families facing life-limiting illnesses, including cancer and HIV/AIDS among others, in the districts of Hoima, Kiboga, Kibaale, Masindi, Kagadi, Kyankwanzi, Kikuube, Kakumiro, Kiryandongo, and Buliisa.
As a branch of Hospice Africa Uganda, LHH is committed to delivering comprehensive, compassionate, community- and person-centered palliative care and training through a variety of services, including:
- Home visits for very sick, elderly and financially constrained patients unable to travel
- Daycare programs for comfort and social support
- Mobile (Outreach and roadside) clinics reaching remote and rural underserved communities
- Outpatient clinic at LHH
- Road-to-care facilitating accessing to life-saving cancer treatment for women with early-stage cancer of the cervix
- Education and training to other health facilities and practicum for students both local and international students, visitors and volunteers
- Community volunteer workers program
In an area where access to healthcare is often limited, LHH ensures holistic palliative care for every patient and their families in a region which is historically underserved in healthcare.
